Out of Service: France Halts Nuclear Reactor Amid Heatwave
French electricity company temporarily shut down a nuclear reactor due to rising water temperatures in the Garonne River following recent climatic conditions.
The company said in a statement that reactor No. 2 at the Golfech plant, located about 90 kilometers from Toulouse, was taken out of service after a significant rise in river water temperature, which is expected to reach 28 degrees Celsius.

It added that the climatic conditions in recent days led to a notable rise in the temperature of the Garonne's waters, noting that the plant relies on river water for cooling, in accordance with environmental regulations governing water temperatures.
