At least 15 Indian tourists died on Saturday after a boat capsized off Phu Quoc Island in southern Vietnam, according to a report by VN Express citing local Vietnamese authorities.

The report said the boat was carrying 36 people, including 32 Indian tourists, three crew members, and one escort, while 21 people survived the incident.

The Indian Embassy in Vietnam said it is closely monitoring the situation and has set up emergency response centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to provide assistance to affected families.

The embassy said in a statement that 'authorities are still verifying the exact details of the incident as search and rescue operations continue,' describing what happened as 'tragic.'
