The twins, who worked in the Riot Control Forces Directorate in Adana province (south), had gone to the Turkish capital Ankara on a temporary assignment before they were martyred in the bomb attack carried out by the coup plotters targeting the Security Directorate's Aviation Department in the Gölbaşı district of Ankara.

The father makes sure to visit the graves of his sons in the Ali Hocalı neighborhood cemetery in Adana, where he could not hold back his tears during his interview with Anadolu, emphasizing that his longing for them has not diminished despite the passing years.

Uruç said that losing two sons at the same time is not easy, and that the family's pain is renewed with the arrival of July 15 every year.

He added: 'We have gone through 10 difficult years, and we still wait for them with longing, as if they will return one day, even though we know they will not return.'

The father noted that his sons dreamed of becoming soldiers, but they joined the police force and never separated throughout their lives.

He explained that he takes care of his son Ahmet's wife and grandson, considering them a trust left to him by his martyred son, praying to God to grant everyone righteous children.

Uruç added: 'I am proud of my sons, and if such a situation were repeated, I would not hesitate to sacrifice as long as I live, for my homeland and my country. I can live without children, but I cannot live without a homeland.'

Turkey witnessed a failed coup attempt in mid-July 2016 carried out by limited elements of the army affiliated with the FETÖ terrorist organization, during which they tried to take control of the state's institutions, security and media establishments.

The Turkish government declared July 15 of each year as 'Democracy and National Unity Day' in the country, in memory of the 253 martyrs who lost their lives during the coup attempt.
