Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to allow U.S. airlines to operate direct flights to Beirut, following his meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the White House.

Salam said: "All thanks to U.S. President Donald Trump for allowing U.S. airlines to operate direct flights to Beirut," affirming the Lebanese government's readiness to accompany all the executive and technical procedures required to implement the decision as quickly as possible.

He added that the resumption of direct flights represents "an important opportunity to enhance travel and communication between Lebanon and the United States, and to support the Lebanese economy."
