Arab League condemns calls to storm Al-Aqsa, holds occupation responsible
The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States condemned on Tuesday the calls made by Israeli settler organizations to organize large-scale incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, coinciding with the so-called 'commemoration of the destruction of the Temple'.
The Arab League stated in its statement that these calls represent a dangerous escalation and a violation of the historical and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
It explained that the recent steps are an extension of Israeli policies aimed at imposing illegal facts in the occupied city of Jerusalem, holding Israel, as the occupying power, fully responsible for the repercussions of these violations.
In the same context, the Arab League called on the international community, especially the Security Council, the United Nations, and UNESCO, to take urgent action to stop these violations and ensure the protection of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Arab League reaffirmed its steadfast position supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among which is the establishment of their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
