The Qatari Emiri Diwan announced today the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former emir of the state and father of the current emir, at the age of 74. The Emiri Diwan published a statement saying: 'The Emiri Diwan mourns the great late national figure, may God forgive him, His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away this morning, Sunday, 27 Muharram 1448, corresponding to July 12, 2026, at the age of 74.'
