Islamabad - SPA:

The Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, affirmed that the escalation of tensions in the region does not serve the interests of any party, calling for an end to acts of violence and instability, and stressing that diplomacy and continued dialogue are the only way to reach sustainable solutions to conflicts.

This came during a speech he delivered before the UN Security Council, where he explained that Pakistan continues its constructive diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation, consolidating the ceasefire, and enhancing regional security and stability.

The Pakistani ambassador called on all parties to avoid statements or actions that could lead to misunderstanding during the sensitive phase of negotiations, stressing the need to focus efforts on ensuring the effective implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding as the basic framework to support the peace process in the region.
