Palestine and Islamophobia on the Human Rights Table of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation
The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) holds its 27th regular session from July 19 to 21, 2026, via video conferencing, with the participation of commission members, representatives from the OIC General Secretariat, and a number of ministers, officials, and experts, to discuss the most prominent priority human rights issues in OIC member states.
The session's meetings are held behind closed doors and are limited to commission members, allowing for in-depth discussions and exchange of views on the topics on the agenda.
The session discusses a number of priority files, foremost among them developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights in OIC member states, including women's and children's rights, the right to development, and human rights education.
The session examines issues of combating Islamophobia, hate speech, and incitement to violence, as well as the situation of Muslim minorities and communities in non-member states, in addition to the permanent mechanism for monitoring human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.
