The American news website Axios reported that Oman proposed during the Muscat talks held today a plan to fully open the southern channel in Omani waters and the northern channel in Iranian waters to navigation, according to a diplomat briefed on the talks.

The diplomat clarified that the Omani proposal stipulates opening the southern channel without the need for any prior approvals, restoring the transit mechanism to what it was before the war.

He added that the Iranian delegation was unable to obtain approval for the proposal during the meeting, prompting it to withdraw the proposal for internal discussions in Tehran.

Qatar has joined the talks being held by Iran and Oman in Muscat, seeking to reach arrangements to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to navigation, as the parties discuss issuing a statement on the full opening of the 'middle channel,' located in international waters.
