Biden announces upcoming memoir, says cancer treatment going well

Former US President Joe Biden announced Wednesday the upcoming release of his memoir about his presidency, confirming that his cancer treatment is going "very well."

Biden had revealed in May 2025, just four months after leaving the White House as the oldest US president to hold office, that he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had spread to the bones. He subsequently began radiation treatment.

Biden (83 years old) said in a video posted on his X account that "Since leaving the presidency, many have asked me: Joe, what have you been doing?"

He added, "I've spent a lot of time with my family. I'm dealing with my cancer diagnosis and receiving treatment, and things are going very well."

He explained that his upcoming presidential memoir, titled "Promise Me, America," will cover "the challenges we faced as a nation, the decisions I made, and the reasons behind them."

He noted key events that marked his term between 2021 and 2025, including the January 6 attack on the Capitol by Donald Trump supporters, the war in Ukraine, and the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.

Biden's memoir is scheduled to be released on November 17, 2026, just weeks after the midterm elections.
