Energy Minister Discusses Cooperation with Turkish Environment Minister and COP31 President
His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, held a meeting in Riyadh with His Excellency Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urban Planning and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye and President of the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31), to be hosted by the Turkish city of Antalya this November.
The two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in climate action and joint efforts to achieve the goals and principles of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, aiming for comprehensive, balanced, and practical outcomes that take into account the national circumstances of member states. They also reviewed the Kingdom's initiatives and efforts in addressing the impacts of climate change, such as utilizing renewable energy sources, managing, reducing, and removing emissions through the Saudi Green Initiative, applying the circular carbon economy approach and its technologies, and other national and regional programs and initiatives, including the Clean Energy Technologies Ministerial Forum and Mission Innovation, which will be held in the last quarter of this year.
