European countries support ban on imports from West Bank settlements
Several European Union countries on Monday voiced support for imposing a ban on imports from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, but no agreement has been reached yet, according to the bloc's foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.
Kallas said at the conclusion of the EU foreign ministers' meeting that taking measures against trade with settlements received the most support among member states.

She noted that representatives of the 27 member states have been tasked with advancing this issue, and they are also likely to hold an extraordinary meeting on the matter. Kallas added: 'We must adopt a unified position, but we have not succeeded in reaching one so far.'
Illegal settlements The European Commission has proposed multiple options, including a ban on trade with settlements in the West Bank that are illegal under international trade law. But EU member states remain deeply divided over the planned measures, despite Kallas confirming before the meeting that everyone agrees the situation in the West Bank is truly unbearable.
Several countries, such as Belgium, support taking firm measures, while others, such as the Czech Republic, oppose them. Several EU countries, including Ireland, the Netherlands, and Spain, have imposed their own trade restrictions targeting Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
