The death toll from the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela last month has risen to 4,490.
Jorge Rodríguez, head of the Venezuelan National Assembly, stated that 108 shelters have been set up to accommodate more than 19,000 people who lost their homes in the two earthquakes.
Two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.5 and 7.2 magnitude shook Venezuela on June 24, followed by more than a thousand much weaker aftershocks. More than 850 buildings were destroyed or severely damaged, especially in La Guaira, a coastal city near the capital Caracas.
