Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz on Sunday offered condolences on the death of former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, at the age of 74.

Yılmaz said in a message published on his account on the Turkish social media platform 'X Social': "I pray to Almighty God to bestow His vast mercy upon the founding father of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, whose death we received with sorrow."

He added: "I also extend my sincere condolences to his noble family and to the entire Qatari people. He will be remembered for his positions and achievements in serving the Qatari people and the Islamic world. May God grant him Paradise."

Qatar announced on Sunday morning the death of its former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, at the age of 74.

In 1995, Sheikh Hamad assumed power, and on June 25, 2013, he handed over the reins of power to his then-Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the current Emir of Qatar.
