Fidan optimistic about F-35.. and discusses relations with Netanyahu
In an interview with Sky News Arabia, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed a number of regional and international issues, including relations with Israel, the Lebanese crisis, the war in Ukraine, and the future of defense cooperation with the United States.
Fidan said that achieving peace in Lebanon "requires changing the Israeli security concept," arguing that lasting stability in the region demands a review of Israel's security approach.
Regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Fidan responded to a question about the possibility of dialogue with him: "Let us hope for a better government," referring to the future of relations with Israel.
On the prospects of Turkey being attacked by Israel and the activation of Article 5 of the NATO Charter, the Turkish Foreign Minister stressed that "the provisions of the alliance are very clear," adding that "President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a leader of peace."

On the Ukrainian file, Fidan revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated to him his commitment to the Alaska understandings, but emphasized that "any unilateral commitment will not succeed without Ukrainian consent."
He also expressed optimism about reaching a near-term solution with the United States regarding F-35 fighter jets, noting that Turkey paid for these aircraft "five or six years ago."
