(CNN)—Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, on Saturday issued a statement addressing Iranians after what he described as the 'two-fold breach' by US President Donald Trump of the memorandum of understanding signed with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Below is the full text of the Supreme Leader's statement as reported by the official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA):

"In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,

O great and wondrous Iranian people, makers of marvels!

Greetings, salutations, and thanks to you, for you have demonstrated, through your unique and historic epic in the unprecedented movement to bid farewell to the martyred master of Iran, a new level of manifestations of the mission and steadfast will of the Islamic Iranian identity, in gratitude, loyalty, insight, and expression of utmost love for the leader of the Islamic Ummah and the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution. The heat of burning hearts, tearful eyes, and firm resolve of the crowds, which numbered tens of millions and stretched for tens of kilometers in Tehran, Qom, Mashhad, and other cities and villages, have earned the admiration of friends of the Iranian people and free people of the world, and have plunged the arrogant enemies of the Iranian people into confusion, astonishment, anger, and panic.

Simultaneously with this epic, the repeated breach of promises by the Great Satan regarding the memorandum of understanding signed between the presidents of Iran and America has once again proven to everyone the triviality of the US president's signature and its lack of credibility, and that arrogance, domination, and brutality are inseparable parts of the American approach and conduct. Today, the Great Satan has once again revealed its true face without a mask, making this dark experiment of crime and breach of promises another conclusive document of America's lies, deviation from logic, untrustworthiness, and malice. Now, as the American enemy seeks to ignite the fire of war and bear heavy costs and further disgrace, let it know that the dear Iranian people and the resistance front have unforgettable lessons, and the courage of the Islamic mujahideen and the zeal of the brave sons of the southern region have shown examples of these in recent days.

I must say to you, O loyal and exalted Iranian people, that among the most principled matters at this stage is insistence on unity of word and sacred solidarity, at all levels of the people and officials and in various fields, in order to achieve the lofty aspirations of the Islamic Revolution and ensure the honor and independence of dear Iran, especially in confronting the criminal and deceitful American enemy. As has been emphasized and warned repeatedly in advance, preserving unity and avoiding division, disputes, political differences, and exaggeration of social disparities is a duty for all. Naturally, the role of officials and sincere, selfless cadres who love the revolution, the Imam, and the martyred leader in strengthening the country's cohesion and unity is the most important and sensitive.

On this basis, the dear people, by continuing to trust the sincere officials in the three branches of government, whose efforts for the welfare and happiness of the people are evident, will remain vigilant and active in the field to ensure the protection of the interests of Islamic Iran. Some individuals may have criticisms of the performance of some officials, with utmost sincerity and out of concern and care. In my opinion, while this attention and care for the system - just like its owners - is a valuable asset and commendable in itself, these dear ones, some of whom are among the vanguard of the insightful, must beware: first, that this approach does not lead to injustice against an innocent person, as that becomes a source of deprivation of divine blessings and grace. And second, that it does not cause a rift in unity and social cohesion. With consideration of these aspects, criticisms will become a driver for the flourishing and advancement of affairs. The enemy must not receive any sign of weakness from us, including this weakness. When we adhere to this consideration fully and precisely, the enemy will have no path but defeat.

Once again, I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to every individual of the dear people, who themselves are mourners of the martyr father of the nation, and who, despite difficulties and some restrictions and hardships, have inscribed a historic epic in this great event of bidding farewell to the martyred master of Iran. I also thank the grand sources of emulation, scholars, thinkers, elites, and activists in cultural, social, and political fields, and I appreciate the measures and efforts of civil and military institutions, as well as the presence of officials and representatives of the lofty resistance front and representatives of the glorious Islamic movements. We hope that the grace and special prayer of our Master (may God hasten his reappearance) will encompass all those who were present, accompanied, and showed solidarity, in whatever way, in this historic epic."
