Multiple Israeli airstrikes launched on Wednesday on the Gaza Strip killed at least nine Palestinians, including two children aged six and ten, according to health officials and medics.

Medics said an Israeli airstrike targeted an area near a school in Gaza City, killing one person. The Israeli military said it carried out an attack on gunmen in Gaza City, denying knowledge of any casualties from the operation.

In the southern Gaza Strip, an Israeli airstrike hit a tent for displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, killing at least four people, including a 10-year-old child.

Palestinian health officials later reported the death of a six-year-old child from Israeli gunfire in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City. Two additional airstrikes on parts of Gaza City killed three people and injured others, bringing the total death toll to at least nine. The Israeli military has not yet commented on these incidents.

Israel has continued to carry out frequent strikes on Gaza since reaching a ceasefire agreement with Hamas mediated by the United States, saying it targets gunmen who pose a threat to its forces or who took part in the October 2023 attack. Hamas, in turn, accuses Israel of violating the deal.

Nikolay Mladenov, the envoy of the Peace Council formed by U.S. President Donald Trump to Gaza, noted that both sides are violating the terms of the agreement.

Available statistics from both sides show that since the ceasefire took effect about nine months ago, more than 1,080 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, most of them civilians, while four Israeli soldiers have been killed. Hamas does not disclose its death toll.
