The Egyptian National Railways announced on Saturday morning that an accident occurred involving passenger train No. 450, traveling from Damanhur to Tanta via Qalin, as it was entering the Mahalla Ruh station in Gharbia Governorate at 7:50 a.m.

In its statement, the authority explained that the first wheel of the carriage directly behind the locomotive had derailed, resulting in 14 injuries.

Immediately after the accident, the Railway Authority dispatched emergency teams, cranes, and necessary technical equipment to the site to swiftly handle the situation and return the carriage to its normal track, ensuring the resumption of train operations at full capacity as soon as possible.

In the same context, the authority decided to form a specialized technical committee to determine the causes and technical reasons that led to the derailment, and to take all necessary measures based on the findings of the technical and legal inspection and investigation.

The Egyptian National Railways expressed its sincere wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured in this accident.
