Funeral ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike on February 28 last month, were held in the Iranian city of Mashhad.
The funeral in Mashhad followed similar ceremonies for Khamenei in the capital Tehran, the city of Qom, as well as the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala.
Large numbers of Iranians gathered on Shirazi and Navvab Safavi streets in Mashhad, holding various banners, and participants chanted slogans against the United States and Israel.
The vehicle carrying Khamenei's body circled among the crowds participating in the ceremony.
During the funeral, Iranian fighter jets conducted flyovers near the ceremony area, despite ongoing US attacks on the country.
Khamenei's body is scheduled to be laid to rest in a special place inside the shrine of Imam Reza after the funeral prayer is performed.
Khamenei, who ruled Iran for about 36 years, was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike that targeted him on the first day of the war on Iran on February 28.
