Iranian authorities announced the temporary suspension of train services on the Tehran-Mashhad line, following a US attack that targeted a section of the railway.

Iran's official IRNA news agency reported on Thursday, citing Javad Mirajifar, Director of Public Relations of Khorasan Railways, details of the incident.

Mirajifar said that the US strike targeting a location on the Tehran-Mashhad railway line led to the temporary suspension of passenger train services on this route.

He added that technical teams were dispatched to the attack site, and repair work on the damaged section is ongoing, stressing that efforts continue to reopen the line and resume service as soon as possible.

On Wednesday evening, the United States announced it had launched strikes against Iran for the second day, while Tehran said it responded with missile attacks on US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.

These developments came after Saudi Arabia and Qatar announced that two of their tankers had been targeted in the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States also revoked the license issued on June 21 that allowed the sale of Iranian oil for 60 days.

On June 18, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding and engaged in difficult negotiations mediated by Pakistan and Qatar to reach a final agreement, before US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the memorandum had 'ended,' threatening to strike Iran again.
