Joseph Aoun: Lebanese must choose what saves their homeland and protects it from others' greed
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun calls for prioritizing national interest, warns against hatred, and expresses hope for ending bloodshed.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said today that dialogue among Lebanese should be within the framework of national interest, not to prioritize personal interests, noting that 'the right to differ is legitimate, not disagreement.'
Aoun added, before a delegation from the 'Orthodox Gathering': 'Our goals are clear and we will not be lenient regarding Lebanon's rights,' pointing out that hatred does not build a state or institutions, but rather destroys, and that Lebanese must choose what saves their homeland and protects it from the greed of others.
He indicated that 'the framework formula is the best possible and has begun to yield results, Washington is now listening to us, and the Lebanon file is on the table of US President Donald Trump.'
The Lebanese president concluded by saying: 'The road is not paved and has difficulties, but hope is great for achieving results that end the bloodbath.'
