On Wednesday, the Permanent Military Court in Lebanon, presided over by Brigadier General Wassim Fayyad, approved a request to cancel a travel ban against singer Fadel Shaker.

Earlier, last Wednesday, the Lebanese military court decided to approve the request to release Lebanese singer Fadel Shaker on bail pending several cases before it, in exchange for a financial guarantee.

Lebanese media revealed that the court at the same time issued a decision barring Shaker from travel.

Sky News Arabia's correspondent reported at the time that Shaker moved to a home whose location is unknown, away from the media, after his release from prison.

The court's decision came after Shaker's health deteriorated and he was transferred to the military hospital, following a health setback he suffered last Tuesday that prevented him from attending his trial session, according to his media office and local media.

Fadel Shaker is being tried before the military court judge Brigadier General Wassim Fayyad, who continues to hear witness testimony in the case known in the media as the 'Abra battle incidents', which took place in June 2013.

The Lebanese singer faces charges of joining Ahmad al-Assir's armed group, which clashed with the Lebanese army resulting in casualties.

In a separate judicial track, the Beirut Criminal Court had issued an acquittal for Shaker on charges of attempted murder of Sheikh Hilal Hammoud in the city of Sidon in 2013, after months of deliberations and hearing prosecution and defense witnesses.

The court attributed the acquittal to the lack of legal evidence, the failure of any of the defendants in the case to implicate Shaker, in addition to contradictions in the plaintiff's statements and his prior waiver of the lawsuit within the framework of what is known as 'dismissals'.
