The first batches of migrants arrived in Britain via the English Channel in July, taking advantage of sunny and warm weather, according to images from the port of Dover in Kent.

The images show migrants wearing life jackets disembarking from a Border Force vessel, with children appearing among those arriving.

These are the first recorded crossings in July, after the UK Home Office reported the arrival of 63 migrants in the last tally on June 30.

As of Tuesday, the number of arrivals via the Channel this year stood at 11,884 migrants, down 44% compared to the same period in 2025, and 12% compared to 2024.

The decline is likely due to several factors, including weather, availability of small boat spare parts, government policies, and changes in the number of migrants arriving in Europe.
