(CNN) -- Canadian authorities have launched a massive search after two people were killed in a mass shooting during the largest Latin music festival in Toronto, Canada, police said.
Police reported six people were shot, and the area saw heavy security presence. They confirmed the shooter or shooters are at large.
Police also said they secured the area about an hour after the shooting began, but continued to urge people to stay away from the downtown area where the festival, which has celebrated Latin culture annually for 22 years according to organizers, is held.
Large crowds had gathered in the street just after sunset to celebrate music and dance when reports emerged of an armed person and multiple people injured.
CNN has reached out to festival organizers, police, and city officials for comment.
