New British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, in his first speech after taking office, pledged to bring about the greatest political and economic transformations the United Kingdom has seen in the past forty years.

Burnham said in his speech from outside the official residence of the Prime Minister at Downing Street: "We will make this moment a turning point for Britain, by implementing the biggest changes in forty years, and building a new political model and a new economic model."

These statements come in Burnham's first official appearance after assuming the premiership, in a clear indication of his administration's direction towards radical reforms touching various sectors.
