Qalibaf: Strait of Hormuz to Open Only Under Iranian Arrangements
Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened except under Iranian arrangements, following mutual strikes between Tehran and Washington.
Qalibaf said on X: The United States has not yet learned that intimidation practices and broken promises no longer go unpunished. If you strike, you will be struck.
6000 sailors stranded
The United Nations International Maritime Organization estimated on Wednesday the number of sailors still stranded in the Strait of Hormuz at about 6000, in a statement condemning the renewed confrontations in the region and the Strait of Hormuz.

And the Secretary-General of the organization, Arsenio Dominguez, said in a statement that 'these attacks only fuel the fear and psychological anxiety already suffered by about 6,000 sailors who remain stranded on board ships unable to leave safely.' He advised the various parties concerned to avoid sending their ships through this strait.
Imposition of Transit Fees
Tehran insists on controlling the waterway, announcing its intention to impose transit fees and threatening to strike ships that deviate from the only path it allows. The Iranian military has attacked at least 3 ships in the past few days, prompting the United States to launch extensive strikes against Iranian targets on Tuesday, followed by retaliatory attacks by Iran on Gulf states. Dominguez said: I condemn the attacks that occurred in the past two days and targeted a number of ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Innocent sailors face grave danger.
