Ruling in Case that Shook France... Prison for Man Who Killed His Wife and Scattered Her Remains
A French court sentenced a man on Friday to 27 years in prison for strangling his wife, then cutting up her body and scattering her remains in a park in northeastern Paris in 2023.
Workers found a plastic bag containing parts of the wife's body in the Buttes-Chaumont park, one of the capital's largest parks and a popular destination for families and runners, while her head was found the following day.
Investigators said the couple were originally from Algeria and had three children, lived in the suburbs of Paris, but had separated emotionally and faced financial difficulties.
After killing his wife, the man placed her body on the couch, covered it with a blanket, told his children not to disturb her because she was tired, and then went out to buy an electric saw.
