Russia has called on the parties to the conflict in the Gulf region to immediately cease fighting and resume dialogue, emphasizing that developments in the Arabian Gulf threaten the chances of reaching a peaceful solution to the conflict.

The official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated today that Russia calls on the parties to the conflict in the Gulf region to immediately stop the exchange of strikes and resume dialogue to find ways to achieve lasting peace in the region.

She added: 'We are extremely concerned about the resumption of military operations in the Arabian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and we call on all parties to abandon the confrontational approach and return to the negotiating table,' pointing to the need to realize the futility of the approach based on escalation and retaliation, as it causes severe damage to civilian populations in all countries involved.
