Republican Senator from Kentucky, Mitch McConnell, 84, said Sunday that he fell last month, requiring hospitalization.

McConnell explained in a statement that he briefly lost consciousness and was then taken to the hospital.

Senator McConnell said in his statement: "I briefly lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital. I have received excellent care over the past few weeks, and I also experienced a mild case of pneumonia."

McConnell added that he has now left the hospital and is in a rehabilitation center to complete his recovery. The former Senate Majority Leader stated that he will not be able to return to the Senate floor to vote at this time, but is working closely with the legislative team in the meantime.
