Sudan's Prime Minister Kamil Idris said on Saturday that the armed forces 'fully hold the initiative,' affirming that the Darfur and Kordofan regions are 'within a stone's throw of full liberation.'

This came during his attendance in the capital Khartoum at the signing ceremony of a charter for reconciliation and peaceful coexistence among the civil and community components in Sennar State, southeastern Sudan, according to the Sudanese News Agency.

The three states of the Kordofan region—North, West, and South—have witnessed fierce clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces since October 25 of last year, alongside ongoing confrontations in the Darfur region in western Sudan.

Idris affirmed that his government is redoubling its efforts in development and services in Sennar State, calling for drawing lessons from community reconciliations, considering them 'the main driver of development and reconstruction.'

He added that Sudanese people will be 'at the forefront of nations' through this social approach, considering that 'the Sudanese individual is the greatest thing we own.'

Since April 2023, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been fighting a war that has left one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of nearly 13 million people, according to international estimates.
