US President Donald Trump told Fox News on Tuesday that he would expand the scope of US strikes on Iran next week to include power plants and bridges if Tehran does not reach a deal.

Trump stated in an interview with Fox News: 'Next week will be very bad for them because next week, power plants will be targeted. Next week, bridges will be targeted,' as reported by AFP.

He added: 'We will destroy all their power plants. We will destroy all their bridges unless they return to the negotiating table.'

According to Trump, the United States held talks with Iran on Tuesday, adding that 'America urged Iran to reach a deal.'

The US president continued: 'Iran still has some fighting capability, but it is not great.'

Trump concluded his remarks: 'The strikes on Iran will continue until I decide that's enough.'

Trump's remarks came as US forces launched strikes on Iran for the fourth consecutive day and reimposed a naval blockade on the country's ports.

The US Army announced on Tuesday the resumption of a comprehensive naval blockade on ships transiting to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas.

The US Army stated in a statement: 'We resumed the naval blockade on ships transiting to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas today at 4:00 PM Eastern Time.'

The statement clarified: 'More than 20 naval warships and hundreds of military aircraft are active across the Middle East.'

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement earlier Tuesday that the military is directing further strikes on Iran.

US forces continued their bombardment of sites in Iran on Tuesday, just hours before the blockade on Iranian ports took effect.

According to a US official who spoke to Reuters, US forces carried out several additional strikes on military targets in Iran on Tuesday to eliminate what they described as 'emerging threats,' while Iranian state media confirmed that various locations were hit by missile strikes.

For its part, Iranian state media reported that American projectiles and missiles struck a target on Qeshm Island in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, without providing details on the nature of the targeted site or the extent of damage and casualties from the attack.

These strikes represent the latest round of skirmishes between the United States and Iran, which began last week following Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
