UK Tightens Protection of Jews After Surge in Attacks
The British government has announced more than £250 million in funding over the next three years to enhance security for the Jewish community, following a rise in antisemitic attacks in the country.
The government said the funding will allow for the deployment of more than 500 additional police officers in England and Wales, with strengthened security measures in areas with large Jewish populations, as well as around schools, synagogues, and community centers.
The decision comes after a series of attacks targeting Jewish sites, including the arson of four ambulances in March, along with a stabbing attack in north London that prompted authorities in April to raise the terrorist threat level from "substantial" to "severe."

The new package includes additional funding for the London Metropolitan Police and Greater Manchester Police, as well as allocations to support security forces in other areas with Jewish communities.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the rise in antisemitism in recent years "tests the country's values," stressing that tackling this phenomenon would be a government priority, with increased security patrols during high-risk periods and deterrence of hate crimes.
