Tom Homan, the border official in the administration of US President Donald Trump, said that Immigration and Customs Enforcement will require its agents to operate at least one body camera during vehicle stops, following shooting incidents that resulted in deaths involving agency personnel.

Homan added on "Fox & Friends Weekend": "These cameras exonerate more law enforcement officers than they convict, and I want officers to wear body cameras because I want the American people to see what officers see when they take those actions."

Homan's remarks came after two men were shot and killed by federal immigration enforcement agents during two arrest operations in Texas and Maine earlier this month. No body camera recordings were available from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents involved in the two incidents.

In a separate interview with CBS, Homan said that funding for the cameras was disrupted during the partial government shutdown earlier this year.

Homan added: "The cameras have already been purchased.. Trainers are currently being trained in preparation for nationwide deployment of the cameras."
