Venezuela earthquake death toll rises to 2,954

The death toll from the twin earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 24 has risen to 2,954, as search and rescue operations continue in affected areas.
In a statement published on its account on the American platform X, the Venezuelan Ministry of Information reported on Saturday that the number of injured had reached 16,592, while about 16,000 people have been left homeless.
The statement indicated that search and rescue teams have managed to rescue 6,462 people.
The previous toll for the twin earthquake, announced by Venezuelan authorities on June 30, 2026, was 1,943 dead and 10,571 injured.
A twin earthquake struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026, the first with a magnitude of 7.2 and the second with a magnitude of 7.5 on the Richter scale.
On June 26, the United Nations Development Program announced that the cost of direct material damage from the twin earthquake is estimated at about $6.7 billion.
