The death toll in Venezuela has risen to 3,899 from the earthquake that struck the country on June 24.
This was reported by Jorge Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, in a statement published on the US platform X on Thursday evening, regarding the latest developments of the disaster that struck the country.
Rodríguez stated that the death toll had risen to 3,899, while the number of injured reached 16,740.
He noted that government authorities and volunteers have delivered humanitarian aid to 86,794 families.
The previous death toll announced by Venezuelan authorities on Wednesday evening was 3,811.
On June 24, a double earthquake struck Venezuela, with the first measuring 7.2 and the second 7.5 on the Richter scale.
The United Nations Development Programme announced on June 26 that the cost of direct material damage is estimated at $6.7 billion.
Search and rescue operations continue in the country, amid fears that the death and injury tolls will keep rising.
