The United States designated a prominent official of the Muslim Brotherhood, along with 3 individuals and 3 entities, on charges of providing financial support to Hamas, in a step that the US State Department said is part of Washington's efforts to dry up sources of terrorist financing.
The US State Department confirmed that the individuals and entities covered by the sanctions reside outside Egypt, explaining that Washington is working to dismantle the financial networks of the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas.
The ministry added that the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas run front organizations used to transfer money and provide financial support, noting that the new measures aim to disrupt these networks and limit their ability to finance terrorist activities.
