The US State Department announced Monday the commencement of the first steps to implement the security arrangements agreed between Israel and Lebanon, in three towns in southern Lebanon.

The department explained that 'experimental zones' have been established in the villages of Frun, Sarifa, and Zawtar al-Gharbiyya, within a tripartite agreement that includes the United States as a guarantor, stating that it will continue to work with both sides to ensure the implementation of the agreement's provisions.

Under this arrangement, the Lebanese Armed Forces assume responsibility for controlling these areas and work to disarm Hezbollah, while the Israeli military carries out a gradual withdrawal from them.

These experimental zones aim to test the success of the agreed-upon mechanism before expanding to include other areas in southern Lebanon.

Sky News Arabia sources said that the Lebanese side will propose that the new experimental zones include Zawtar al-Sharqiyya and Arnoun, including the Shaqif Castle, Kfar Tebnit, and Yahmar, in addition to a proposal for an Israeli withdrawal from al-Bayada to Naqoura in the western sector.

The Lebanese Army Command announced in a statement that the Lebanese army continues to carry out its tasks in the southern areas, including the towns of Frun and Sarifa in southern Lebanon, and will begin deploying in the town of Zawtar al-Gharbiyya after the withdrawal of Israeli forces from it.

The statement said: 'Military units continue to carry out their tasks in the southern areas, including the towns of Frun - Bint Jbeil and Sarifa - Tyre.'

The statement added: 'In parallel, coordination is ongoing with the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon to begin deployment in the town of Zawtar al-Gharbiyya - Nabatieh after the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from it.'

The army command called on citizens 'not to head to the town of Zawtar al-Gharbiyya and to adhere to the instructions of the deployed military units for their safety.'

This announcement comes ahead of an anticipated meeting Tuesday between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and President Donald Trump at the White House.

Aoun had expressed hope that the talks would contribute to achieving the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon.
