(CNN)-- Food prices in Iran have increased threefold since the last presidential election, due to the repercussions of the war with the United States, according to the Iranian website 'Raja News', which is affiliated with the hardline faction in the country.

In June, the Iranian website 'Khabar Online' reported that last year saw an 'unprecedented' rise in food prices, adding that this issue has become a 'major concern' for public opinion in Iran.

Prices of some food items rose by between 300% and 400%.

The price of vegetable oil jumped by 431% between May 2025 and May 2026, according to 'Khabar Online', while the price of eggs rose by 342%, and the price of chicken saw a similar increase.

The website also pointed to the twelve-day war between Israel and Iran in June 2025, in addition to the current US-Iran conflict, as main reasons for the rise in food prices.

Overall, Iran's Hormozgan province has been severely affected by the latest annual inflation, which reached 101.4%. The province is located on the Strait of Hormuz and its capital is Bandar Abbas.

Iran's Nour News Agency, affiliated with the Supreme National Security Council, reported that Khuzestan and Bushehr provinces come next, with inflation rates of 98.9% and 96.5% respectively.
