An Iranian military source stated that Tehran will respond by targeting a number of infrastructure and energy facilities linked to US interests in the region, if the United States attacks infrastructure inside Iran, such as bridges or power plants.

Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported on Wednesday, quoting an Iranian military official who preferred not to be identified, his response to US President Donald Trump's threat to launch attacks on transportation and energy facilities in Iran, if any ship is attacked in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian official said that his country will target bridges, infrastructure, and energy facilities linked to US interests in the region, if bridges or power plants inside Iran are subjected to any American attack.

He added that the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz will be safe if conducted according to regulations and in coordination with Iran, stressing that if this is not adhered to, Tehran will not back down from its determination to impose its control over the strait, and will take the measures it deems necessary.

US President Donald Trump had earlier threatened on Wednesday to bomb infrastructure sites in Iran, including bridges and power plants, in response to any attack Tehran might launch on ships or navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
