AI in Saudi Arabia Surpasses Global Average
Saudi Arabia is witnessing an acceleration in the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies within the private sector. Data from the General Authority for Statistics shows that 33.1% of private sector establishments use AI in their operations in 2025, compared to 27.6% in 2024, meaning that nearly one in three establishments now rely on these technologies.
AI usage spans multiple fields, most notably customer service, data analysis, marketing, automation, and decision support. All 18 economic activities included in the survey recorded growth in usage rates.
The information and communications sector topped the list of most AI-adopting sectors at 61.1%, followed by the finance and insurance sector at 52.9%, and then the education sector at 51%. Sectors such as electricity, gas, mining, and water also recorded significant growth in adopting these technologies.
Internationally, Saudi Arabia has surpassed the average AI usage rate of companies in OECD countries, which stood at 20.2%, by a margin of more than 13 percentage points.
These indicators reflect the accelerating pace of digital transformation in Saudi Arabia, as AI is no longer limited to tech companies but has become an integral part of operations across various economic sectors, boosting productivity and supporting the economic transformation journey.
