Part of the project inauguration. Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Saleh Al-Jasser, said that signing 7 new contracts for establishing logistics zones worth 1 billion riyals raised the total number of logistics zone contracts inside ports to 34 contracts, with total investments amounting to about 15 billion riyals, with Jeddah Islamic Port holding the largest share. He explained in a statement to Al-Arabiya channel on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the truck staging project that the Kingdom, under exceptional circumstances, managed to smoothly transfer commercial movement from the eastern coasts to the western coasts, serving the Kingdom, Gulf countries, and the world, noting the launch of 27 new shipping lines since the beginning of the geopolitical crisis. Al-Jasser pointed out that the establishment of the truck staging area in Jeddah Islamic Port came in response to the increasing density of truck traffic, contributing to raising the efficiency of logistics operations inside the port, confirming that the new area is capable of accommodating 40,000 trucks daily. Al-Jasser added that the Kingdom is witnessing a logistics renaissance since the launch of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and the accompanying reforms, indicating that the Kingdom has begun to reap the fruits of these efforts, which contributed to enhancing the efficiency of supply chains and raising the sector's readiness. It is noteworthy that the Saudi Ports Authority today signed 7 agreements to establish logistics centers in Jeddah with investments amounting to 1 billion riyals, during the inauguration ceremony of the truck staging project.
