Commerce issues 71,000 commercial registrations in Q2 2026

The Ministry of Commerce issued its quarterly briefing for the business sector for the second quarter of 2026, including an overview of the performance and developments of the business sector in the Kingdom.

The ministry revealed in its report the issuance of 71,000 commercial registrations during the second quarter of this year, a decrease of about 11% compared to 80,000 registrations in the same period last year.

Riyadh region topped the regions in terms of the number of commercial registrations issued during the second quarter of 2026 with approximately 23.27 thousand registrations, representing 33% of the total, followed by Makkah with 23% (16.3 thousand), then the Eastern Province with 14% (over 10 thousand registrations).

Asir region recorded more than 3.8 thousand registrations (5% of the total), and Qassim region about 3.8 thousand (5%), while other regions accounted for about 19% of the total, bringing the total issued registrations to about 71 thousand during the period, as shown in the following table:

The registrations issued in Q2 2026 included about 23.3 thousand registrations for limited liability companies, 113 joint stock companies, 93 simplified joint stock companies, 24 general partnerships, and 5 limited partnerships.

The total commercial registrations in all regions of the Kingdom reached more than 1.9 million registrations, including 1.28 million for establishments and 638,000 for companies. The proportion of registrations for youth-owned establishments was 38% of total existing registrations, while the proportion for women-owned establishments was 46%.

Riyadh region topped the existing registrations with more than 666,000 registrations, forming about 35% of the total, followed by Makkah with over 397,000 registrations, as shown in the following table:
