Railway Infrastructure Records in the Kingdom Grow by 33% by the End of Q2

The number of existing railway infrastructure records in the Kingdom rose by 33 percent by the close of the second quarter of 2026 relative to the same period in 2025.

The data originates from the Ministry of Commerce's quarterly 'Business Sector' publication, which tracks infrastructure registrations across regions.

According to the Ministry of Commerce's "Business Sector" bulletin for Q2 2026, the total existing railway infrastructure records reached 5,607 by end of Q2 2026, up from 4,192 at the end of Q2 2025.

The bulletin indicated that the Riyadh region ranked first among five regions in terms of total existing railway infrastructure records, with 2,579 records by the end of Q2 2026. The Makkah region came in second with 1,392 records by the end of Q2 2026, while the Eastern Province ranked third with 755 records. The Madinah region came in fourth. 239 records by the end of the second quarter of 2026, and the Qassim region ranked fifth with 133 records by the end of the second quarter of 2026.

Riyadh’s top ranking underscores its role as the Kingdom’s economic and administrative center. The sustained growth in railway infrastructure records indicates rising investment in rail projects, aligning with broader national development objectives under Vision 2030.
