The Promising Potential of Logistics Services in the Kingdom
Logistics services are one of the promising and high-value economic sectors, and they have proven their effectiveness in many economies that have relied on them as a source of national income despite limited competitive advantages or the difficulty of facing economic and geopolitical challenges and fluctuations. From this perspective, the Kingdom's expansion in this vital sector reflects a systematic vision and planning that strengthens the national economy and its ability to achieve added value in the long term, benefiting from the Kingdom's strategic geographical location linking the world's continents, as well as maritime outlets opening to important regional and global markets. Related news In order to develop logistics capabilities, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics recently launched the world's largest truck staging area at Jeddah Islamic Port, an area that contributes to raising the efficiency of logistics operations and enhancing trade movement, in line with global navigation developments, supporting the logistics services sector and related transport, shipping, and trade activities, and positively impacting exports and imports. Noteworthy in this project are the accompanying development works, as a logistics center will be established to support commercial activities and maritime services, along with an integrated center to support import, export, and logistics services operations. This is expected to attract more foreign investments and major international companies operating in the transport and shipping sector, which will find an advanced and flexible infrastructure supporting their operations on various maritime routes. Among the most prominent investments launched in this logistics zone is the expansion of the logistics zone of a global company specialized in maritime transport, in addition to a large investment by one of the leading international companies in logistics services, in addition to investments by national companies and their expansion in this field, contributing to enhancing localization, developing partnerships, and creating more economic opportunities. This experience can be transferred to the Eastern Region, in Dammam, Jubail, and Ras Al Khair, by establishing logistics zones serving major companies operating in maritime transport and shipping, and providing services to markets linked to the Asian continent, benefiting from the advanced infrastructure and vast spaces enjoyed by the region. In addition to land ports, the logistics services sector can go far in achieving added economic value, enhancing revenues, and attracting investments, in line with the Kingdom's development plans and its ambitious vision.
