Saudi Delegation Explores $1 Billion Investments in Bangladesh Ports and Infrastructure
Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman received a high-level Saudi delegation led by Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Eng. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih to discuss cooperation and investment opportunities in infrastructure projects between the two countries.
During the meeting held at the Prime Minister's office, the Saudi delegation stated that Red Sea Gateway Terminal International intends to invest $180 million in the construction of the Bay Terminal in Bangladesh, with plans to raise its total investments in port management to $1 billion.
The Indian news agency ANI added that the Saudi delegation indicated interest from other Saudi entities, including Red Sea Gateway Terminal International, in investing in multiple sectors within Bangladesh.
For his part, the Bangladeshi Prime Minister outlined government policies and initiatives aimed at attracting foreign investment, emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic partnership with Saudi Arabia.
In the same context, the Saudi delegation confirmed that it had reviewed investment opportunities in areas including ports and railways, noting that discussions would continue in upcoming joint meetings.
The Saudi delegation includes the CEO of Red Sea Gateway Terminal International, the Assistant Deputy Minister of Investment for Investment Development, as well as the Saudi ambassador to Bangladesh and a number of officials.
