Contractors Authority: Contracting Sector Includes More Than 365,000 Establishments and 4.4 Million Workers by End of 2025

The Saudi Contractors Authority launched its annual report for 2025, which reviewed the most prominent indicators of the contracting sector in the Kingdom, including the development of the number of establishments and their distribution by size, activity, and administrative region, in addition to the distribution of workers in the sector.

The report showed an increase in the number of contracting establishments to about 365.12 thousand establishments by the end of 2025, compared to 281.82 thousand establishments in the previous year, with an annual growth of 29.6%.

According to the size of establishments, micro-enterprises accounted for the largest share of total establishments in the sector at 84.88%, followed by small enterprises at 12.52%, while the remaining percentage was distributed among medium, large, and giant enterprises.

Building construction activity led the contracting sector activities during 2025, accounting for 66.67% of total establishments, followed by specialized construction activities at 21.98%, then civil engineering activity at 5.69%, while the remaining percentage was distributed among activities of services to buildings and landscaping, and architectural and engineering activities, technical testing, and analysis.

Contracting establishments were concentrated in the Riyadh region, which accounted for 33.04% of total establishments by the end of 2025, followed by the Makkah region with more than 15%, then the Eastern Region with a share of 13.61%, and the Qassim region at 11.07%, while the remaining establishments were distributed across other administrative regions. The number of workers in the contracting sector reached 4.41 million workers by the end of 2025, with the largest percentage concentrated in the Riyadh region, which accounted for 45.25% of total workers, followed by the Eastern Region at 24.63%, then the Makkah region at 12.60%, while the remaining workers were distributed across other administrative regions.
