Dollar Hovers Near One-Week High as Major Currencies Steady
The US dollar hovered near its one-week high today, with its index measuring performance against a basket of six major currencies steady at 100.96, close to the highest level since July 15.
Among major currencies, the dollar held steady against the Japanese yen at 162.50 yen, while the euro saw little change, stabilizing at $1.1415, and the British pound remained flat at $1.3434.
In contrast, the New Zealand dollar rose 0.4% to $0.5860, reaching its highest level since early June, while the Australian dollar edged up to $0.7001.
The Canadian dollar steadied after falling to a one-month low, following the US announcement of new 50% tariffs on a wide range of Canadian products, a move that triggered a wave of pressure on the Canadian currency.
