Economic / Council of Economic and Development Affairs Holds a Meeting via Video Conference
Jeddah, Muharram 22, 1448 AH corresponding to July 7, 2026, SPA — The Council of Economic and Development Affairs held a meeting via video conference. At the beginning of the meeting, the council reviewed the monthly report of the Ministry of Economy and Planning, which monitored the most important developments in the global economy and its growth paths in light of current regional changes, and their repercussions on the national economy, in addition to the opportunities enhanced by its positioning as a pivotal economic and logistical power in the region. The report pointed to the high flexibility of the Kingdom's economy and the ability of the logistical system to adapt to global changes, reviewing the positive impact of the various policies adopted by the Kingdom on growth rates, including the stability of the inflation rate among the lowest levels globally, and achieving a surplus in the trade balance driven by export growth, supporting the Kingdom's development endeavors within (Saudi Vision 2030). The quarterly presentation from the National Center for Performance Measurement of Public Agencies "Adaa" was discussed, which presented the performance of public agencies for the first quarter of 2026, the performance of indicators and initiatives of government agencies in (Saudi Vision 2030), the center's work in activating the measurement of national strategies, monitoring the performance of agencies in their contribution to national strategies, and the various mechanisms to improve the performance practices of those agencies. The results showed an improvement in the percentage of initiatives on track and completed by government agencies in achieving their targets compared to the last quarter of 2025, with continued efforts to support those agencies, address challenges, and follow up on corrective plans to enhance government performance improvement. The council discussed the annual report submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Traffic Safety regarding traffic safety in the Kingdom as one of the most important pillars of health transformation and the strategic objectives of (Saudi Vision 2030). The report reviewed the historical trend of traffic accident data, the results of strategic performance indicators for 2025 and their targets until 2027, an assessment of the traffic situation in the Kingdom's regions, a summary of the decisions of the Ministerial and Executive Committee for Traffic Safety, the most notable achievements of relevant entities and their executive indicators, and the report pointed out that the field of traffic safety has achieved a qualitative leap and a global pioneering position with the support and directives of the wise leadership - may God preserve them - which was embodied through integrated and intensive work within the system, and joint efforts that resulted in a tangible and historic decrease in the traffic accident fatality rate, with a reduction exceeding 60% in 2025 compared to 2016 levels, while continuing efforts to achieve further progress in enhancing traffic safety, which reflects on quality of life and preserves the health and safety of citizens and residents. During the meeting, a number of procedural matters were considered, including: the draft regulatory arrangements for the Industrial Council. It was also informed of the results of monitoring the health situation for the Umrah season, the report prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Planning regarding the Kingdom's participation in the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos 2026, the monthly report on the implementation of the executive plan for the Kingdom's hosting of the headquarters of regional and international governmental organizations and bodies, the quarterly report prepared by the Digital Government Authority regarding the performance of government agencies in the United Nations E-Government Development Index, the periodic report on the results of completed work of the National Framework Committee for Regulating Governance, Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit, the monthly executive summary of foreign trade, and the basic reports on which the summary was based.
