Economic / Qassim Governor: Palm and Dates City Project Represents a Qualitative Leap for the Palm and Dates Sector and Contributes to Enhancing the Region's Status

Buraidah, Safar 8, 1448 AH (July 22, 2026), SPA — His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Qassim Region, commended the handover of the site for the Palm and Dates City Project from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's branch in the region to the National Center for Palms and Dates, in preparation for completing the project's implementation phases. The project aims to strengthen the region's status as a global capital for dates and support the targets of Saudi Vision 2030. This came during His Highness's meeting in his office today with Engineer Salman Al-Suwayni, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's branch in Qassim, and Ahmed Al-Mousa, CEO of the National Center for Palms and Dates. During the meeting, he reviewed the procedures for handing over the project site and the next implementation steps. The Governor of Qassim stressed that the project represents a qualitative leap for the palm and dates sector and contributes to enhancing the region's status as one of the most prominent date-producing areas in the Kingdom, in addition to raising the economic, tourism, and cultural value of this vital sector. He praised the integration of efforts between the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the National Center for Palms and Dates, emphasizing that this cooperation reflects institutional work that accelerates the implementation of qualitative developmental projects. He noted that the project will be a specialized destination highlighting the agricultural and cultural heritage of the region, contributing to improving quality of life, boosting tourism, supporting investment, and empowering artisans and productive families, thereby adding value to the region's economy and enhancing its presence locally and internationally. The Palm and Dates City Project aims to create an integrated environment supporting the palm and dates sector through modern infrastructure and diverse interactive experiences that attract visitors and tourists, highlighting the cultural and economic assets that distinguish Qassim Region, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 targets. The project includes several specialized facilities and destinations, including a palm and dates museum, an artisan area, dates shops, restaurants and cafes, open squares, and a designated children's area, enhancing the visitor experience, improving quality of life, and stimulating tourism in the region.
