Economy / 31 Initiatives Support Economic Cooperation between Kingdom and US through Trade and Investment Council
Riyadh, 07 Safar 1448 AH corresponding to July 21, 2026 SPA - The Saudi-US Trade and Investment Council (TIFA) held its regular meeting today, attended by Abdulaziz bin Omar Al-Sakran, Vice Governor of the General Authority of Foreign Trade for International Relations and Head of the Saudi side, and Bryant Trick, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Europe and the Middle East and Head of the U.S. side; to follow up on the initiatives of the council's ninth meeting held in Riyadh last January. The meeting discussed 31 initiatives from both sides, with 17 initiatives from the Kingdom and 14 initiatives from the United States across various sectors. These initiatives aim to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries by reviewing trade and investment policies and supporting technical dialogue between relevant authorities. The Saudi-US Trade and Investment Council, chaired by the Authority, focuses on five main objectives: developing trade and investment policies, facilitating trade and addressing technical and regulatory barriers, supporting cooperation in health, plant health and agricultural products measures, enhancing intellectual property protection, and developing digital trade, innovation and emerging technologies. The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Economy and Planning, Saudi Food and Drug Authority, Saudi Ports Authority, Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, Local Content and Government Procurement Authority, Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, General Authority of Civil Aviation, National Center for E-Learning, National Center for Traveler Security under the Presidency of State Security, and the National Center for Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases. It is noteworthy that the General Authority of Foreign Trade works to develop bilateral trade relations through coordination councils and joint governmental committees, in addition to enabling the Kingdom's non-oil exports to access foreign markets and help overcome various challenges they face. // End //18:08 t m 0184
